Functional Nutrition

Diet is a fundamental component of functional medicine,  and plays a key role in how I treat patients.   While there's no "one size fits all" diet, making sure that one's diet is whole food based, nutrient dense and low glycemic (low sugar and refined carbs) are very high priorities, while considering how best to improve gut health, immune function, detoxification pathways, hormones and mitochondrial health.

Over the past 25+ years, I've been a student of various whole food nutrition philosophies.  I've been particularly influenced by the teachings of Donnie Yance, CN, MH, RH (AHG),  Dale Bredeson, MD,  Paul Anderson, ND,  Datis Kharrazian, DC, D.H.Sc., MS,  Terry Wahls, MD and Chris Kresser, L.Ac.   I've  been increasingly impressed with the benefits of therapeutic fasting, via time restricted feeding and the

, combined with a whole foods diet.
